If you've been wondering what happened after Aramark stadium concession workers went on strike late in the 2024 Phillies season, we have a labor update.

Aramark and Philly Unite Here! Local 247 — which is the Philadelphia's food service workers' union — have reached a tentative agreement. The pact now needs to be ratified by the members, with the union recommending a yes vote.

The following information is posted on a bulletin board where most employees enter the stadium:

Outside of Citizens Bank Park Wednesday, members were voting on whether or not to ratify the agreement. What was the major concession that led to the union making the recommendation to vote in favor of this new deal?

"The healthcare. The big win was healthcare," said Samantha Spector, who works for Aramark at Citizens Bank Park, Lincoln Financial Field and Wells Fargo Center.

One of the complaints previously from the membership was that one way Aramark was avoiding giving healthcare to employees was by treating their work at Citizens Bank Park, Lincoln Financial Field and Wells Fargo Center as separate ventures. Under this new agreement, all three buildings will be calculated together.

"Well, the healthcare is opened up to more people now," Spector said. "It only covered 55 workers before. Now it's open to the whole membership for hours and days that they've worked."

Spector estimates that roughly 300 workers will be affected positively by the new healthcare policy.

Employees who work at more than one building are able to fill out multiple ballots. For example, if you work for Aramark at both Citizens Bank Park and Wells Fargo Center, you can fill out two ballots in favor or against ratification of this new agreement.

The agreement — according to the information being made available to members before voting — would include annual raises of at least $1.00 per hour. This, according to the union, is a massive increase from the $0.40 increase that was initially offered by Aramark.
