Starting Tuesday, Cape May County will continue with the resurfacing of Woodbine-Oceanview Road (Route 550) in Woodbine and Dennis Township.
The road will be resurfaced starting east of the roundabout in Woodbine and extending east to Corson’s Tavern Road (Route 628) as well as a 300-foot section of the roadway immediately adjacent to Route 9.
The project will consist of milling and resurfacing of the roadway under a night paving operation, the county announced Monday in a news release.
Work is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, April 15, at approximately 6 p.m. and will continue through the night until about 6 a.m. the following morning. Work will continue during nights from Tuesday to Friday, April 18.
On Tuesday night during the paving operation, eastbound Route 550 traffic will be maintained as the contractor mills and paves the westbound lane. Westbound Route 550 traffic will be detoured.
Local traffic will be maintained, and homeowners will always have access to their properties, according to the release.
During roadwork, traffic heading west along Route 550 approaching Route 628 (Corson’s Tavern Road) will be directed south along Corson’s Tavern Road to Route 83.
Motorists will be directed west along Route 83 to Route 47 north. Traffic will head north along Route 47 to Main Street (Route 610) and will continue traveling north along Route 610 back to Route 550.
Normal traffic patterns will resume between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. each day. A separate detour notice will be provided later in the week when the eastbound lane of Route 550 is scheduled to be milled and paved.
Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling through the work zone due to limited visibility, slow moving vehicles and the absence of traffic striping.
Pavement reflectors will be installed at the end of each workday to delineate the roadway centerline and will remain in place until the road receives permanent traffic striping.
