Cole Hamels — one of the most popular players in Phillies history — is going to make his regular-season broadcasting debut on Easter Sunday when his long-time team hosts the Miami Marlins.
According to Ty Daubert of Phillies Nation, Hamels and Ruben Amaro Jr. will both be color commentators in the NBC Sports Philadelphia television booth with Tom McCarthy. Taryn Hatcher will be the dugout reporter.
It will be the first time that Hamels has broadcast a regular-season game. He got a couple of test runs during Spring Training, and told Destiny Lugardo in Clearwater that he expected to broadcast one home game a month in 2025.
Hamels was a guest instructor during Spring Training for the Phillies, and has been in uniform at Citizens Bank Park the last few days.
The four-time All-Star officially retired as a Phillie last June. A first-round pick in 2002, Hamels went 114-90 with a 3.30 ERA and three top-six finishes in NL Cy Young Award voting during nine-and-a-half seasons with the Phillies. He also won both the NLCS and World Series MVPs in 2008.
