Break out your flashy Miami threads, channel your inner Crockett and Tubbs and get ready to swing into spring at one of the shore’s top pickleball events of the year.
The second annual Spring Swing Pickleball Classic returns to Wildwood Crest on Saturday, May 17. This year’s theme is full on “Miami Vice,” the1980s show featuring the stylishly dressed detectives Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs as the main characters.
Founded by local Olympian Priscilla Loomis, the Priscilla E. Frederick Foundation is once again serving up a day packed with competition and good vibes at the Wildwood Crest pickleball courts (6301 Atlantic Avenue).
The mission of the Priscilla E. Frederick Foundation is to help single-parent households, families and individuals through community-driven support and access to essential resources.
The high-energy pickleball tournament will bring together more than 100 players and spectators for doubles matches and a live DJ set from local favorite DJ Jimmy Lamb.
There will also be shopping with local vendors and a Bougie Brunch with delicious food.
Teams will battle it out for the coveted Gold Cup, officiated by celebrity referee Tyrone Johnson, the Philadelphia sports announcer.
Gearbox Pickleball and Boxed Water are among the event’s major sponsors. Education scholarships will be awarded live during the event, directly supporting students in the community.
