Fire broke out in a multimillion-dollar waterfront home in Ocean City late Wednesday night, but no one was injured.

Firefighters rushed to the scene at 15 Tobago Lane at 11:38 p.m. and found flames and heavy smoke coming from the back of the house.

They were able to contain the blaze using fire hoses and placed it under control at 12:20 a.m., according to a city news release.

No one was inside the home when the fire started and no injuries were reported, the release stated.

The upscale single-family home overlooks a lagoon on Tobago Lane off Bay Avenue and has an estimated market value of nearly $5 million, according to online real estate companies.

The news release did not specify the extent of the damage to the home.

The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation by the Ocean City Fire Department Investigation Unit and the Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Mutual aid assistance was provided by the Marmora Volunteer Fire Company, Margate City Fire Department and Upper Township Rescue Squad.

Flames are seen shooting out from the back of the house.
