Shore Medical Center is working on a new outpatient testing room – scheduled to open in the spring – that will make it easier for people with autism and sensory needs to receive bloodwork and other essential testing in a calming environment.

It’s all thanks to the generosity of Mike and Jeannie Monichetti, organizers of the annual Mike’s Seafood Run-Walk for Autism on February 15 in Sea Isle City. Shore Medical Center is supporting the Run-Walk for Autism and is urging members of the public to participate in the event.

Through the donation by the Monichettis, Shore was able to purchase everything the Somers Point hospital needs to equip the outpatient testing room, including:

  • A vibroacoustic lounger for relaxation
  • Aurora sensory projector bundle
  • Roku Smart TV and enclosure for comforting distractions
  • Shark Activity Wall Busy Board panels
  • White noise machine, sensory toys, and more

“We are so grateful for their support in helping us provide compassionate, inclusive care. Let’s come together on February 15 to celebrate this wonderful cause and keep the momentum of kindness going,” Shore said in a Facebook post about the Mike’s Seafood Run-Walk for Autism.
