Work will consist of milling and resurfacing the roadway under a nighttime paving operation.

  • Cape May County

A section of Dennisville-Petersburg Road (CR 610) in Woodbine and Dennis and Upper townships will be repaved starting Tuesday night. There will be detours.

The project will begin at the north side of the roundabout and extend north to Tuckahoe-Mount Pleasant Road (CR 664), according to a Cape May County news release.

The work will consist of milling and resurfacing the roadway under a nighttime paving operation. Work is expected to begin on Tuesday at approximately 8 p.m. and will continue through the night until approximately 6 a.m. the following morning.

Work will resume Wednesday night, Thursday night and Friday night. Friday night is expected to be the final night of paving.

During the paving operation, one direction of traffic will be maintained while the other direction is detoured. When the contractor resurfaces the southbound lane and shoulder of Dennisville-Petersburg Road, northbound traffic will be maintained and southbound traffic will be detoured.

On Tuesday night and Thursday night, northbound traffic will be maintained, while southbound traffic will be detoured. Traffic approaching CR 610 at the Route 50 intersection and wishing to continue south will be directed west onto Route 50.

Motorists will continue along Route 50 to Tuckahoe, where they will be directed west onto Route 49. Traffic will continue along Route 49 and will be directed south along CR 557 (Woodbine Road).

Traffic will continue along Woodbine Road to Route 550 (Woodbine-Oceanview Road) in Woodbine and will be directed east along CR 550 back to the roundabout.

On Wednesday night and Friday night, southbound traffic will be maintained, and northbound traffic will be detoured.

Motorists traveling along CR 610 approaching the roundabout and wishing to continue north will be directed west onto CR 550. Traffic will continue along CR 550 west to CR 557, then will turn right onto CR 557 north and continue to Route 49.

Motorists will turn right onto Route 49 east, heading to Route 50. Traffic will turn right onto Route 50 east and head east along Route 50 back to CR 610.

Drivers are urged to use caution when traveling through the work zone due to limited visibility, slow-moving vehicles and the absence of traffic striping.

Pavement reflectors will be installed at the end of each paving day to delineate the roadway centerline and will remain in place until the roadway receives permanent traffic striping.
