The Fisherman’s Memorial overlooks Cape May Harbor at a small park at the intersection of Missouri and Baltimore avenues.
Cape May will honor the local fishermen who have lost their lives at sea during the annual “Blessing of the Waters” remembrance.
The ceremony will take place Saturday, April 5, at 11 a.m. at the city’s Fisherman’s Memorial, located in a small park at the intersection of Missouri and Baltimore avenues.
Dedicated in 1988, the 8-foot-tall granite memorial depicts a young woman comforting her two children while gazing out at Cape May Harbor in hopes that her fisherman husband will return home.
In addition to commemorating the Cape May fishermen lost at sea, the Blessing of the Waters ceremony also offers up prayers for a safe and successful upcoming fishing season.
