A Cape May County man has been arrested in connection with a series of sexual assaults dating back to 2024, authorities said.
Michael J. Lupacckino, of Wildwood Crest, is facing charges of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland announced Thursday.
On March 17, the Wildwood Crest Police Department received information regarding Lupacckino's involvement in multiple incidents of sexual assault that began in October of 2024, Sutherland said in a news release.
The charges against Lupacckino follow a joint investigation initiated by the Wildwood Crest Police Department Detective Division and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, Special Victims Unit.
“This case highlights the strong partnership between the Wildwood Crest Police Department and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office in our shared commitment to holding offenders accountable and ensuring the safety of our community,” Sutherland said in the release. “We are continuing our efforts to investigate and bring justice to all victims involved.”
The investigation included statements from witnesses, the collection of forensic evidence and the execution of search warrants at Lupacckino's residence.
Lupacckino is currently being held at the Cape May County Correctional Facility pending further legal proceedings.
The investigation continues and authorities believe there may be additional victims, Sutherland said. Police encourage anyone with additional information or who may have been a victim to come forward.
