The New Jersey Restaurant & Hospitality Association has named Executive Chef Jason Hanin of The Ebbitt Room in Cape May as the winner of the 2025 Chef of the Year Award.
The honor recognizes Hanin’s exceptional culinary talent, leadership and dedication to advancing New Jersey’s vibrant restaurant and hospitality industry, according to a news release.
A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Hanin has built a career “defined by curiosity, craftsmanship, and a deep respect for ingredients and culture,” the release stated.
At The Ebbitt Room – housed inside The Virginia Hotel – he leads a culinary program rooted in a rigorous farm-to-table and farm-to-glass philosophy, sourcing hyper-seasonal ingredients directly from Cape May’s Beach Plum Farm.
“His menus balance refinement and soul, reflecting both global inspiration and local devotion,” the release said.
Hanin’s recognition comes as part of the 40th Annual NJRHA Awards Ceremony, held Wednesday at The Ryland Inn.
The event celebrated the people and establishments that define hospitality in New Jersey, honoring excellence across all facets of the industry.
