Cape May, long renowned for its Victorian architecture, quaint shops and top restaurants, has been named as one of the “25 Best Christmas Towns in the U.S.” by Travel + Leisure.com.
Cape May landed in the 21st spot of the national rankings. This is what Travel + Leisure had to say about the historic seaside resort:
“This Jersey Shore town has a strong Victorian streak easily identified by its quaint architecture, and the holiday season pushes it a little further on the Dickensian scale.”
“Walk the Washington Street Mall to admire garlands and festive lights as you shop,” Travel + Leisure continued. “While you're there, drop by The Original Fudge Kitchen, which offers great fudge and saltwater taffy gift boxes. Book a stay at Congress Hall, especially if you have kids. The hotel typically turns its Grand Lawn into a seaside winter wonderland complete with festive activities.”
Capitalizing on the festive atmosphere, the Greater Cape May Chamber of Commerce has created a Cape May Holiday Booklet along with a matching website to help make trips to Cape May easier for visitors.
“Cape May has something for everyone, young, old, families and couples We love the designation, and it highlights both our residents and businesses and their contributions to our town,” Chamber of Commerce President Bernadette Matthews said of the Travel + Leisure recognition.
The holiday booklet offers a comprehensive guide of tours, entertainment, dining and other things to do with the kids and as a family.
