The SkyCoaster amusement ride was a way for thrill-seekers to fly without being on a plane.

“Are you ready to fly? Part sky diving, part hang gliding, this ride is about as exciting as it gets,” is the way Morey’s Piers in Wildwood described the SkyCoaster.

But after 25 years, Morey’s is retiring the heart-pounding ride, the Boardwalk amusement park operator announced on its Facebook page.

“Thank you to everyone who faced their fears and took the leap with us! As we say goodbye to this iconic ride, we’re already hard at work reimagining Adventure Pier so that there can be many more adventures to come in future years,” Morey’s said.

When it was in operation, the pendulum-like SkyCoaster would allow up to three riders at a time to soar 100 feet above the Wildwood beaches between two steel towers.
