Boo! Cape May Halloween Parade set for Sunday

Are you ready for some thrills and chills?


Cape May’s spooky Halloween Parade is set for Sunday, Oct. 19, beginning at 3 p.m. The rain date is Oct. 26.


The parade route will start at Perry Street and Carpenters Lane. It will continue down Carpenters Lane to Ocean Street, then travel along Washington Street before ending at the Cape May MAC at 1048 Washington Street.


Parade registration is free and begins at 1:30 p.m. at the corner of Perry Street and S. Lafayette Street.


Judging takes place at 2:30 p.m. Divisions are as follows:

  • Division A: Ages 3 and under
  • Division B: Ages 4 to 6
  • Division C: Ages 7 to 9
  • Division D: Ages 10 to 12
  • Division E: Ages 13 to 17
  • Division F: Ages 18 and older
  • Division G: Groups
  • Division H: Floats


Additional awards will include:

  • Best Witch
  • Funniest
  • Most Original
  • Silliest
  • Best TV or Movie Character
  • Best Self-Made
  • Best Family
  • Scariest
  • 5th Annual Linda Ewing Halloween Achievement Award


Prizes will be awarded to all divisions at the conclusion of the parade at Cape May MAC. The public is encouraged to participate by registering their children in costumes for judging or entering their own creations, including antique autos or decorated golf carts.


The grand marshal for the parade is Miss Linda, the very first recipient of the annual Linda Ewing Halloween Achievement Award.


The parade is sponsored by the city of Cape May, the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cape May, and Cape May MAC.


Pre-registration is available at Cape May Convention Hall, 714 Beach Avenue.
