Wildwood Police Chief Joseph Murphy has been sworn in as president of the FBI National Academy Associates New Jersey Chapter, considered one of the most prestigious law enforcement leadership organizations in the world.
Murphy’s election follows nine years of service on the chapter’s executive board, a testament to the confidence and respect he has earned from senior law enforcement leaders throughout New Jersey and beyond, the city of Wildwood said in a news release.
As president, Murphy will lead the organization throughout 2026. He will oversee quarterly meetings, executive-level training and professional development programs, and statewide and multi-state networking initiatives.
He will also play a key leadership role in coordinating the organization’s annual conference held in Atlantic City, a major event that brings together law enforcement executives from local, state and federal agencies.
The FBI National Academy Associates is a nonprofit international organization made up of exclusively of graduates of the FBI’s National Academy Program. It has more than 14,000 members worldwide, representing all 50 states, 194 countries and over 8,200 law enforcement agencies.
FBINAA members comprise the top one percent of senior law enforcement leadership globally. Selection to attend the FBI National Academy is widely regarded as one of the highest professional distinctions in policing.
“The city of Wildwood could not be prouder of Chief Murphy,” said Deputy Mayor Steve Mikulski, who also serves as commissioner of Public Safety. “His election as president of the FBI National Academy Associates New Jersey Chapter speaks volumes about his integrity, professionalism and leadership.”
Under Murphy’s direction, the Wildwood Police Department has strengthened public safety initiatives, enhanced professional standards, and embraced best practices that protect both residents and the millions of visitors who come to Wildwood each year, the news release said.
