Atlantic City Electric shows work being done.

There is light at the end of the tunnel — or at least by the end of the day, Atlantic City Electric said Thursday for those who have been without power since Sunday's snowstorm.

More than 99 percent of customers have their electricity back, with service restored to more than 15,000 customers, the company said Thursday afternoon.

Less than 1,200 customers remained without power as of 3 p.m. Thursday, mostly in Atlantic and Cape May counties, who were the most heavily impacted.

There were 453 customers without power in Atlantic County as of 4:15 p.m., with 423 customers in Cape May County.

Egg Harbor Township had the most ongoing outages with 121, followed by Hamilton Township at 90. Middle Township topped the area with 125 customers still affected.

More than 1,600 total field personnel are currently dedicated to the efforts, including all available Atlantic City Electric employees and local contractors, more than 900 mutual assistance personnel and nearly 200 tree contractors.

Under Atlantic City Electric’s coordination, crews from New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Indiana, and Michigan, along with additional support from Exelon sister utilities Pepco, Baltimore Gas & Electric, PECO, and ComEd, are working alongside local teams to safely restore service.

The company expects that nearly all customers will be restored Thursday.

For some customers, restoration times could extend to Friday afternoon, depending on the location and extent of storm‑related damage and repairs that are necessary.

Those customers whose outages are expected to last into Friday will receive calls from the company with updates.

As conditions change and more information becomes available, estimated restoration times for an individual outage may be adjusted.

"The company deeply appreciates the patience and understanding of its customers as crews continue working around the clock to restore service safely to all customers," the company said.

Customers are encouraged to report outages and downed wires

Atlantic City Electric continues to warn people to stay away from downed wires and assume any downed wire is energized. Always stay away from any storm-damaged electrical equipment, especially downed power lines and tree limbs that may come into contact with power lines.
