A Wildwood man has been arrested for burglarizing a shop at the Washington Street Mall in Cape May and is also a suspect in other break-ins in surrounding communities, authorities said.
Walter E. Langston, 51, was charged with criminal mischief, burglary, possession of burglar's tools and theft, the Cape May Police Department announced in a news release Friday.
Langston allegedly broke into a shop at 518 Washington Street on the pedestrian mall around 3:50 a.m. on Dec. 4. He was identified with the help of surveillance footage obtained by police, according to the release.
The investigation and Langston’s arrest were the result of a joint effort by detectives from the Cape May, Wildwood and Middle Township police departments.
The Middle Township and Wildwood police departments were investigating burglaries in their towns allegedly committed by Langston.
During an interview with detectives from Cape May and Middle Township, Langston admitted to committing burglaries in those towns, according to the release.
