Cape May County announces storm-related closures and warming center

During the weekend, Fare Free Transportation will be available to pick up and drop off passengers at the Cape May County Warming Center, at Seashore Community Church, 446 Seashore Road, Cape May.

In anticipation of the snowstorm expected to hit the region this weekend, Cape May County will implement a series of closures, service modifications and emergency warming center operations.

All information is subject to change based on weather conditions and public safety needs, according to a county news release.

“Our key Cape May County departments have been activated to ensure the safety of the public during this major winter storm event,” Board of Commissioners Director Leonard Desiderio said. “It may be necessary to temporarily close some facilities and suspend certain services to protect the safety of our residents and valued employees. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

County Closures and Service Updates:

Cape May County Parks and Zoo:

All county parks and the Cape May County Zoo will be closed on Sunday and Monday.

Fare Free Transportation Services:

Fare Free Transportation will operate on a limited basis on Monday, providing service only for:

• Dialysis transportation

• Meals on Wheels deliveries

• Code Blue warming center transportation

All other Fare Free services will be suspended for the safety of riders and staff.

Cape May County Senior Centers:

All Senior Centers, including Lower Township, North Wildwood, and Upper Township, will be closed on Monday.

Cape May County Library System:

• Cape May Court House Main Branch will be closed Sunday, but will reopen Monday.

• All other county library branches will be closed on Sunday.

Warming Center Operations:

The Cape May County Warming Center, located at Seashore Community Church, 446 Seashore Road, Cape May, will be available to unsheltered people and others in need throughout the duration of the storm.

• Hours: 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly

• Warm beverages and light refreshments will be provided in the evening.

• Warm beverages and light breakfast items will be available in the morning.

Friday, Jan. 23: Pick-up at 6 p.m. at 201 Hirst Ave., Rio Grande (Parking lot of Branches Outreach Center)

Saturday, Jan. 24: Drop-off at 6 a.m., at 1304 Route 47, Rio Grande Collaborative Support Programs of NJ (CSPNJ)

Saturday, Jan. 24: Pick-up at 6 p.m. at 1304 Route 47, Rio Grande Collaborative Support Programs of NJ (CSPNJ)

Sunday, Jan. 25: Drop-off at 6 a.m. at 1304 Route 47, Rio Grande Collaborative Support Programs of NJ (CSPNJ)

Sunday, Jan. 25: Pick-up at 6 p.m. at 1304 Route 47, Rio Grande Collaborative Support Programs of NJ (CSPNJ)

Monday, Jan. 26: Drop-off at 6 a.m. at 201 Hirst Ave., Rio Grande (Parking lot of Branches Outreach Center)

Monday, Jan. 26: Pick-up at 6 p.m. at 201 Hirst Ave., Rio Grande (Parking lot of Branches Outreach Center)

Morning transportation will be provided from the Warming Center back to the designated pick-up locations via Fare Free Transportation.
