Middle Township Mayor Chris Leusner has filed his nominating petitions to seek a second, three-year term on the Township Committee.

Leusner filed his paperwork with Municipal Clerk-Administrator Kimberly Osmundsen at Town Hall. He was joined by Deputy Mayor Ike Gandy and Committeeman Jim Norris, reflecting the support he has from his fellow members on the governing body.

“I want to thank everyone who stepped up to sign my petition,” Leusner said in a news release Friday announcing his re-election bid. “I never take the support of the good people of Middle Township for granted. I look forward to getting out and hearing from the voters as we build on the positive momentum of the past three years and work towards an even better Middle Township.”

Over the past three years as mayor, Leusner said he has played a key role in advancing initiatives that have strengthened Middle Township’s financial position, supported responsible development and enhanced quality of life for residents.

“Under his leadership, the township has continued to focus on smart growth, infrastructure improvements, and maintaining the balance between economic progress and preservation of the community’s unique character,” the release stated

Prior to serving on Township Committee, Leusner was a member of the Middle Township Police Department and rose to become police chief.

He said he is proud of the progress the township has made during his first term and is eager to continue that work.

His campaign will focus on maintaining fiscal responsibility, supporting local businesses, investing in infrastructure, expanding recreational opportunities and ensuring that Middle Township remains a safe, welcoming place for families and visitors alike, he said.
